Most heat pumps in Hemet and San Jacinto last 12 to 15 years. Out here in the valley heat, that number drops closer to 10 if the system wasn't sized right or the outdoor coil never got cleaned. When a system starts costing you $500 to $1,000 a year in repairs, or when the compressor finally quits, replacement is usually the smarter play.
